Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often should we change mosquito repellent patch, and how many patches should we use?

Tiger Balm Mosquito Repellent Patch contains essential oil, it works by masking the human signature that is believed to confuse mosquitoes’ delicate sense of direction and taste, making it difficult for them to find us. As essential oil generally evaporates faster, we recommend that you change the patch more frequently, every few hours instead of once a day.

In addition, we also recommend that at least 2 patches are used each time, one on the upper body and the other on the lower part of the body for greater coverage.

  • Can Tiger Balm Mosquito Repellent Patch be used on infant?

We believe if the patch is used as directed, there is no harm noted on newborn babies. For newborn, the patch should be applied:

    1. Further away from the baby’s face so that the baby does not breathe in the essential oil directly.
    2. Preferably near the lower half of the body so that she/he will not accidentally bring it into her/his mouth, nose and eyes.
    3. Extra patch can also be applied on the bassinet and stroller for better protection.
  • What is the protection duration of Tiger Balm Mosquito Patch?

It is difficult to specify the duration when it comes to efficacy of mosquito repellent patch as many factors are at play. Factors such as the environment (outdoor or indoor), carbon dioxide, lactic acid, perspiration, movement, body heat and colour are important considerations affecting effectiveness of the patch and this varies individually. The scent from the patch will mask the “human signature” making it difficult for the mosquitoes to find us. The effectiveness of the patch will depend on the strength of the “human signature”. Depending on body size, height and the factors mentioned above, we would usually recommend at least 2 patches to be used (one on the upper body and the other on the lower body) for better protection.
