Tiger Balm’s Legendary Formula

Natural remedies have always played a vital role in Far Eastern healing. Tiger Balm products are primarily based on powerful herbal blends of medicinal plants that are known for their curative effects. The revitalizing effects of the ingredients used in Tiger Balm products eases muscle and joint aches, strains and sprains for millions of people all over the world, and has been doing so for more than a century.

“Soothe your aches with the highest concentration of herbal bioactives and essential oils.”

What are the common active ingredients in TigerBalm products?

Camphor

Found in most of our products, camphor increases local blood flow and is a counterirritant, which reduces pain and swelling. It provides temporary relief of minor muscle and joint aches and pains caused by strains, sprains, bruises, arthritis, and simple backaches.

Menthol

A staple in every Tiger Balm U.S. product, menthol causes an initial sensation of coolness that is soon followed by a sensation of warmth. It helps temporarily relieve minor pains, including those caused by arthritis, backaches, bruising, cramps, muscle strains or sprains, and tendonitis.

Capsicum Extract

Found in our Pain Relieving Patches and Pain Relieving Hydrogel Patches (Large), Capsicum is an active component of chili peppers. It provides temporary relief of minor muscle and joint aches and pains caused by arthritis, backaches, strains, and sprains.

Methyl Salicylate

Methyl Salicylate can be found in our Liniment and all of our Active products. It is used to temporarily relieve muscle or joint pain, arthritis, bruising, and backaches. It can also be used for pre-sport warm-up and after sport as well.

Other Essential Oils

Cassia Oil, Cajuput Oil, Clove Oil, and Dementholized Mint Oil are other essential oils found in the Tiger Balm ointment formula. They are not officially recognized by the FDA as “Active Ingredients” for Topical Pain Relief. They are known herbs in the aromatherapy world. And blended together with the Active Ingredients (Menthol & Camphor) give the formula its unique “Tiger Balm scent”. Eucalyptus Oil is found in the Tiger Balm Patch & Liniment products.
